Halloween will be celebrated tomorrow, October 31st, and it is important to take precautions to keep your pets safe. Although it is really tempting, it is not recommended that you bring your pet along trick-or-treating. Even if your pet is well-behaved or trained, the noise and confusion of this holiday can cause him to become spooked or aggressive. Some children may be fearful of dogs and cause a commotion. So play it safe and leave your pets at home.
Even at home on Halloween, the spooky costumes and excessive noise can be upsetting for your pets. It is ok to include your pet in the celebrations as long as you take the following precautions.
Trick-Or-Treating Tips:
- Be sure his costume is comfortable and doesn’t include any small parts that can cause choking.
- Add reflective tape to his costume, so that your pet is visible in the dark.
- Keep your pet inside – especially black cats as they can be targets.
- Be sure your pet’s identification is securely attached in case he might escape.
- Keep Halloween candy out of reach.
